It’s time for the fourth issue of Transzine! We invite trans writers, artists and other creative types to send us your essays, short stories, poetry, illustrations, comics, collages, photographs, and other creations!

We especially encourage content regarding personal experiences and advice when it comes to being trans. Do you have any experiences related to your transness which you’d like to share? If you could go back in time and help out your younger self, what would you tell them?

GUIDELINES:

The zine is printed in A5, so keep that in mind when sizing your piece.

We prefer content in Slovene, as there is already plenty of content in the world in English and we are trying to make trans content as accessible to as many trans slovenians as possible. However, we do accept some English pieces and are open to other languages also.

For visual art, please scan the piece rather than photographing it, unless the photograph is part of the medium.

We prefer art which has not been published elsewhere before the new issue has been printed. You maintain full rights and ownership of the piece, but we prefer for the zine to be full of brand new art and texts when possible!

We accept some reprints, but not all. Please let us know if this is a reprint and where it was previously published.

We are not bashful. If you think your work is too weird or too controversial, please send it anyway. We are less interested in pieces saying “you are valid” on repeat, and more interested in saying something new and exciting! Our work presumes trans people are valid by default, otherwise it wouldn’t exist!

Please do not send content which is ableist, racist, misogynist, or otherwise discriminatory towards a marginalised group.

Tell us whether you want to be published with your name, nickname, or a pen name.

For written works, we may send you editors notes to improve the piece before publication.

The submission deadline is December 31st, 2020!

You can browse through Transzine’s first three issues for inspiration or take a look at Kvartir’s Bizine 1-3.

Send contributions to info@kvartir.org with the subject “Transzine 4”. We look forward to your contributions!
